Sparks Lake Aurora
So, Wednesday evening I started to get Aurora predictions that looked very positive for our area. The big question was going to be if Anne would let me venture into the woods alone 10 weeks after back to back open heart surgeries. I think her exact words were “of course, and if you die at least you will die happy” :)
Within 5 mins of setting up the camera and letting it shoot while I relaxed on the bench I could see the beams with my eyes dancing between Broken Top and South Sister. So, yes I could die happy :)
Here is one of many shots showing beams over South Sister and Broken Top. I was luckily enough to also have a 50% moon illuminating the mountains while the beams were the most active around 11pm.
To make things even more perfect, nobody was at Sparks Lake and the mountain had a temperature inversion so it was a balmy 50 degrees!
